A loveless life

Lachine Canal, Montreal
A loveless life

Is like a thirst that wishes
To be quenched
Like a wound cut open
Day after day

A loveless life has hope
Because it's alive
Yet knows that without love
There is no worthy life

A loveless life
Is like a beautiful set of hair
Never been played with
Like a cup of honey
Never tasted
Never even for its aroma opened

A loveless life
Has faith as long as it rains
Yet knows that without love
The sun will not shine again
A loveless life
Is like a root
Digging into the ground for water
Yet never finding it
Because it's buried in desolate matter

Like an egg
Searching for its womb
When found, it is rejected
And put in its tomb
A loveless life
Is like the slaves strife
Kneeling, pulling
Knitting and plowing
Yet never reaping
Nothing but a dream of a kite
A loveless life
Oh what a sad excuse for existing
A loveless life
Yearning but never reaching its might
A loveless life
Full of potential
Yet sickened by the very thought of reality
A loveless life
Maybe love shall never be mine
